Frequently Asked Questions

Cindy Wechsler is delighted to join your child’s pediatric care team as a specialty consultant. At Proactive Pediatrics, we do not replace your child's primary care provider (PCP). Our services are designed to enhance and complement the treatments and therapies prescribed by your child's PCP, offering individual and specialized complementary care with an integrative approach that promotes the best possible outcomes. Each child must have a PCP for routine and sick care.

While many of our patients prefer to utilize Cindy Wechsler APRN as their PCP, we strongly recommend and encourage that our families maintain a health care provider who is in their insurance network as their PCP as a back-up for hospitalizations, emergency care, and after hours call. In addition to specializing in ADHD, Cindy Wechsler APRN is also available for consultations, mental wellness visits, holistic focused preventive/well care visits and same-day acute sick visits during routine office hours.

Pediatric integrative medicine uses an evidence-based approach to treat the whole child, and not just a symptom(s), condition or disease. The focus is in preventive health and addresses root causes to improve imbalance in the body.

Cindy Wechsler APRN is an “out of network” provider and does not bill insurance directly. This allows Cindy Wechsler APRN to spend the time needed with her patients to offer the high level of care needed, without interference from insurers. We will provide you with an insurance superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, depending on your plan. To find out about coverage, call the patient number on the back of your insurance card and ask:

  • Does my child have out of network coverage for Nurse Practitioner services?
  • We also encourage you to use your flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) card for our services.

We accept debit or credit card payments. You are welcome to use your FSA or HSA card. We require each family to have a valid credit card on file when you book your first appointment. You are responsible for the full cost of the visit at the time of service.

Cindy Wechsler APRN will happily hold space in her calendar for your child. We request any changes to be made with at least 48 hour advance notice. A fee of $100 will be charged for changes made less than 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time.

Our desire is to best serve our patients. Last minute cancellations/re-scheduling impact our ability to offer comprehensive holistic care to patients efficiently and effectively. As soon as you know you need to cancel or reschedule, please call the office so that we may accommodate your needs and offer your appointment time to someone on the waiting list. Due to overwhelming demand for appointments, your appointment must be cancelled or rescheduled at least two business days prior to your appointment time or you will be charged. Please call 203-916-4606. Phone calls are the preferred method of cancellation/rescheduling. If you choose to cancel or reschedule your appointment via email, you are responsible to make sure the email was received and responded to by our staff within the 2-business day time period. Failure to do so will result in a full charge of your office visit.

We also understand emergencies happen. We will consider these on a case-by-case basis. Appointments not cancelled within these guidelines or missed will be charged 50 percent of the office visit, depending on the type of appointment scheduled.

We make it easy to find high quality products you can trust. We offer a full line of remedies and supplements available for purchase in our office and on our website via our own online store.
